This first Intarsia project was based on color, stitch, jacquard pattern, and 3D fabrics exploration. Inspiration came from maps and architecture. I played around with colors as contrast to the black to keep a fun, fresh and young aesthetic.

 

I used holding techniques to create holes and 3D fabric swatches. The jacquard patterns came from punchcards made on my own. The intarsia swatches are single layered. All swatch development was made in a 7-gauge single bed flat knitting machine.
